Why we built RoadTripPlanner
RoadTripPlanner started with a simple frustration. Planning a multi-day trip meant fighting Google Maps' ten-stop limit, juggling a spreadsheet of overnights and pasting links into a group chat that nobody could follow. The planning was harder than the driving.
So we built the tool we wanted: a road trip planner where you can add as many stops as a real trip needs, group them into days that make sense, and keep notes, photos and booking references in one place. Then share it, so everyone you travel with is looking at the same plan.
We began with the routes we know best — the NC500 and the Northumberland 250 — and the same planner now powers longer trips across France, northern Spain and anywhere the road leads. Every feature comes from real trips and real feedback from people planning theirs.
What we stand for
Built for multi-day trips
Most map tools are built for getting from A to B today. We built RoadTripPlanner for the trips that span days or weeks — where the route, the stops and the overnights all have to fit together.
No 10-stop ceiling
Google Maps caps you at around ten waypoints. Real road trips have dozens. We let you add unlimited stops and group them by day so the plan actually reflects the journey.
Made to be shared
A trip is rarely solo. Every itinerary is shareable, so the people you travel with see the same plan, the same stops and the same notes — without a messy group chat.
Made by people who road trip
We started with the NC500 and the Northumberland 250 because we drive them. The product grows from real trips, real frustrations and real feedback — not a feature checklist.

Who is RoadTripPlanner for?

Why was RoadTripPlanner built?

Where is RoadTripPlanner based?
RoadTripPlanner is built in London, UK. We started with British routes like the NC500 and Northumberland 250, and the planner works just as well for road trips across Europe and beyond.
